I know it's been a while since our last update, but that doesn't mean that a lot has not been transpiring since.
Here is a list of highlights of where we are today. 1. OLG Feast Day Celebration: Our Dec. 17th OLG Feast Day Mass and reunion celebration went well. It was good to meet with many of you in person. You can see a video that was produced from that celebration on our new YouTube channel by clicking here.
2. Registration: Our registration for the 2023 'Hope & Healing' pilgrimages closed on Jan. 17th. Registration was a huge success as we had 205 people register!
3. Route Selection: This year's route selection process was performed after the registration process because of two primary factors: (1) we didn't know how many people would register since the pilgrimage had not taken place for a three year period due to the pandemic; and (2) we needed to conduct a route feasibility study on all five routes to verify how they stand after being dormant for three years. Based on these and a few other factors, we selected one Guadalupana route that will walk the North Costilla route, and two peregrino routes: Estancia South, and Bernal East.
Although they won't be active this year, we are happy to report that our feasibility studies for both the ABQ Southwest route and Chama Northwest routes were overwhelmingly positive, and they would be in play for the 2024 pilgrimages.
4. Route Leadership: We are pleased to announce that Lee Ann Llamas (SD) and Melissa Rael (R) will serve as leaders for the North Costilla route. Estevan Atencio (SD) and Miguel Rael will lead the South Estancia route, while Gabriel Antonio Gonzales (SD) and Josh Corbin will lead the East Bernal route.
More information on 2023 routes and route leadership can be found in our 'Contact' tab of this website.
5. Important dates: Dates for our upcoming retreat, formation session and other notable events can be found in the 'Calendar' tab of this website.
6. Next Meeting: The core team will be meeting on Thursday Feb. 16th at 6:30 pm to discuss retreat prep., supply inventory/procurement, along with a few other pilgrimage planning items. You are welcome to attend that meeting via Zoom by clicking here.
